Actorfest on Saturday

Actorfest, the expo for performers sponsored by Back Stage, will take place this Saturday, October 24, in Manhattan at the Hammerstein Ballroom.  (The West Coast version is scheduled for November 14 in Los Angeles at the California Market Center).

This will be the third year I've attended Actorfest and I'm looking forward to it.  I'm registered for the following:

10 a.m. - Filming in New York: Getting Cast in Gotham
12 p.m. - Working with Representation
2 p.m. - It's All About You: Promoting/Branding Yourself
4 p.m. - Masterminds of Acting Success

There are a bunch of other great Panels, Master Series, Intensives, and Focus Sessions scheduled throughout the day, covering topics such as cold readings, demo reels, casting for commercials, on-camera acting technique, headshots and resumes, auditioning for musical theater, and more.

While the classes require a fee, there is no charge for the free casting calls and access to the exhibit hall and networking cafe.  Participating casting directors include:

* Todd Thaler, Todd Thaler Casting, The Caller, Queens Supreme, Pollock

* Kimberly Hope, Kimberly Hope Casting, Law & Order: Criminal Intent

* Geoffrey Soffer, Geoffrey Soffer Casting, Ugly Betty, Legend of the Seeker

* Jennifer Rudolph, Mitchell/Rudolph Casting, Flipped, G.I. Joe, Transformers

* Paul Schnee, Barden/Schnee Casting, Pineapple Express, Redacted, World Trade Center

* Barbara McNamara, Barbara McNamara Casting, What Happens in Vegas, 30 Rock (background casting), The Devil Wears Prada (background casting)

It should be another great expo.  Hope to see a lot of fellow actors there.
