The New A-Team is Coming

One remake I'm looking forward to is the movie version of the television hit The A-Team.  Scheduled for release in 2010, the new film stars Liam Neeson as team leader Hannibal (in an uncanny imitation of original actor, the late great George Peppard), Bradley Cooper as Faceman, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. Baracus, and Sharlto Copley as "Howling Mad" Murdock.  The movie's cast also includes Jessica Biel, Patrick Wilson, and cameos by original castmembers Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz.  No word yet on whether icon Mr. T will make an appearance.

The original action-adventure TV series dealt with a renegade soldiers using their talents to help people in need.  As the opening credit voice-over explained: "In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team."  The new film makes the characters veterans of the war in Iraq.

The new version is directed by Joe Carnahan who gave us Smokin' Aces with a screenplay by Michael Brandt who also scribed the scripts for Wanted, 3:10 to Yuma, and 2 Fast 2 Furious.

The A-Team is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 11, 2010.
