The Film Career of Farrah Fawcett

Many people have been criticizing this year's Academy Awards for not including actress Farrah Fawcett in their montage tribute to people who have passed away this year. While it is true that the Academy cannot acknowledge every actor, director, or Hollywood professional who died, you would think that Farrah Fawcett was one of those high profile celebrities that would merit a mention.
Some have tried to defend the snub by arguing that Farrah was better known for her television credits (Charlie's Angels, The Burning Bed, etc.) than her theatrical motion picture work, but in my humble opinion she had a notable movie career as well, with almost 20 film projects.

Here are some of my favorites:
  • Logan's Run as Holly
  • Saturn 3 as Alex
  • The Cannonball Run as Pamela Glover
  • Extremities as Marjorie
  • The Apostle as Jessie Dewey
  • Dr. T and the Women as Kate
I wrote about Farrah's passing when it happened.  Her death was overshadowed by media coverage of Michael Jackson's tragic end on the same day. Her absence from the Oscar tribute was perceived by many fans as another snub of the fine actress who started out in TV commercials, became a poster-girl icon and a television superstar, but whose career showed surprising diversity, spanning into theater and movies, earning her Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe nomination, and an Independent Spirit Award.  She will not be forgotten.
