Burnett was doing sketch comedy on television long before Saturday Night Live was even a dream in Lorne Michaels' and Dick Ebersol's minds. Born in 1933, she has had a long and illustrious career. She has won Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Award, nominated recently for her guest role on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, showcasing her dramatic acting skills on top of her already established comedic resume.
Betty White proved that comedy is not just a young person's game. It's great to see a whole new young audience exposed to the comic skills of the masters who came before and are still with us. I hope Saturday Night Live continues to tap the talent pool of the older generation.
