My Favorite Dennis Hopper Role

When I heard the news that Dennis Hopper passed away, all the great roles that he played in his long career came to mind.  His resume includes appearances on Rebel Without a Cause, Giant, and Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.  Many love his portrayals of Billy in Easy Rider, Frank Booth in Blue Velvet, Clifford Worley in True Romance, Howard Payne in Speed, or Ben Cendars from the television series Crash.  Some even admire his work in otherwise terrible projects, such as King Koopa in Super Mario Bros., Deacon in Waterworld, and John Canyon in Space Truckers.

My favorite of all his performances has to be Feck in River's Edge.  The film deals with the apathy of a generation as seen through the incident of a murder in a small town and the reactions of high school students who knew both the victim and the killer.  Dennis Hopper's excellent portrayal stands out in a movie full of great performances by Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves, Ione Skye, and many others.

If you've never seen River's Edge, catch it if you can and witness a great acting job by the talented Mr. Hopper.
