New Shows Coming to the CW

This is my final report from the upfronts market (so all you television haters can breathe a sigh of relief).  The CW was the last of the broadcast TV networks to present its slate of new shows to advertisers.  Its offerings were slight but seemed to fit well with the current lineup of shows like Smallville, Supernatural, Gossip Girl, and Vampire Diaries.  Here's what to expect:

Hellcats - Produced by Tom Welling (who plays Clark Kent on Smallville), this drama aimed at the teen demographic follows the adventures of a cheerleading team.

Nikita - Produced by McG who gave us the Charlie's Angels movies, this is another remake of Luc Besson's original French film La Femme Nikita.  If you recall, it was already remade as an American motion picture called Point of No Return with Bridget Fonda, and then turned into a TV series starring Peta Wilson.  This new version stars Maggie Q as the kick-ass spy/assassin.

There will also likely be some reality show mid-season replacements.

And that concludes our coverage of the new shows coming to network television next season. We now return you to your regular City of Kik programming.

Maggie Q is the person to be able to pull of another Nikita remake. It's risky to do remakes over and over. This TV broadcasting network certainly is not risk averse.
