written before about the excellent fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. As I've mentioned, one of my most anticipated television series is HBO's adaptation of the first novel, A Game of Thrones.
The first teaser, embedded below, is short but enticing, nicely capturing the foreboding tone of the beginning of the epic saga.
The cast seems perfectly selected: Mark Addy as King Robert Baratheon, Sean Bean as the heroic Eddard Stark, Peter Dinklage as my favorite character Tyrion Lannister, Lena Headey as the beautiful but scheming Queen Cersei Lannister, Emilia Clarke as the dragon heiress Daenerys Targaryen, and many other great actors.
The epic tale deals with multiple families battling for control of the land of Westeros, on a world where seasons last decades, supernatural creatures exist, and sorcery is real. The fantasy elements are almost a sidenote to the realistic drama and rich characters that Martin has created, with loads of sex and violence, all of which will be brought to life in HBO's eagerly awaited version.
Tune in to Game of Thrones in 2011!
