The Return of Roger Ebert

I'm extremely happy to learn about the return of one of the greatest film critics to television.  Roger Ebert Presents At the Movies will debut on public television in Chicago and hopefully nationwide.  Ebert himself will make appearances on the show.  Despite being unable to speak after losing his lower jaw to throat cancer, he will use a custom text-to-speech software that will replicate his famous voice and allow viewers to hear his words again.

The new hosts of the film reviews show are Christy Lemire of the Associated Press and Elvis Mitchell of National Public Radio, both great critics.

I was disappointed to see the cancellation of the long-running syndicated show At the Movies, which Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel made famous.  I hope this new incarnation is a success.

I continue to be inspired by Ebert's perseverance, enthusiasm for cinema, and eternal optimism, and look forward to seeing this new series, continuing the tradition of fun film analysis, commentary, and debate.
