The first time I saw the "lights" beaming from Ground Zero, it took my breath away.
Almost 10 years after the tragedy of 9/11, we still do not have a new tower or a completed memorial, so the two dramatic pillars of light shooting magestically up into the night sky where the Twin Towers used to be is an elegant and somber tribute to all the lives lost at that site almost a decade ago.
The "Tribute in Light" was originally planned to be a one time only event marking the one year anniversary of 9/11 in 2002, but it was extended and is planned to be repeated until the tenth anniversary next year. The illuminated beams are a quiet, almost ghostly representation of what we have all lost and what we will never forget.
