Can't Control Mother Nature

The East Coast is trying to dig out of a massive blizzard that dumped up to 20 inches of snow according to measurements in Central Park.  Once again, those powdery flakes have brought New York, "the City That Never Sleeps," to a standstill.  Human beings have achieved great things throughout the history of civilization, but we still find ourselves at the mercy of Mother Nature.  We have sent men to the moon, discovered the secrets of the atom, built buildings that seem to touch the sky, yet we cannot control the weather -- our attempts to even predict it often make us seem like fools.

Snow storms like this can be deadly, but at the same time they are also incredibly beautiful.  My wife pointed out last night how quiet the city seemed as the windswept snow caused a whiteout beyond our windows -- at the peak of the blizzard's rage, it all seemed amazingly peaceful.

I hope all of you are staying warm and safe.
