People Want More Blog Entries About Books

Another one of my totally unscientific but still interesting polls has concluded.  I asked, "About which topic do you wish bloggers would write more?"  The overwhelming majority (75% of all responders) answered, "Books!"  Other subjects (movies, pop culture, theater, sports, news and current events, music, technology, television, personal lives, food, and politics) had supporters, but nothing close to books.

Coincidentally today, fantasy author George R.R. Martin announced that the eagerly awaited (and long delayed) next volume of his bestselling Song of Ice and Fire series, A Dance with Dragons, will be released this summer.  Here's the statement from his Web site: "Yes, I know. You've all seen publication dates before: dates in 2007, 2008, 2009... This date is different. This date is real... Barring tsunamis, general strikes, world wars, or asteroid strikes, you will have the novel in your hands on July 12... The Dragons are coming. Prepare to dance."

I've written about the other books in the series before: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows.  I'm also eagerly anticipating HBO's upcoming adaptation of the saga. The release of the new book a few months from now is welcome news.

In my blog I've endeavored to mix it up with entries about the wide world of entertainment, media, and popular culture.  I've often written about books and my favorite authors, but I'll try to add a bit more whenever appropriate.  I am here to serve.  :)

In the meantime, vote in my new poll and let me know which media genre is your favorite!
