Upfront Report 2011: CW

My weeklong Upfront Market Report coverage concludes with a look at the CW.  The little network that could continues to try to compete with the big boys.  Here are the shows they're debuting next season:

Hart of Dixie - A young New York doctor named Zoe Hart finds herself in charge of a medical practice in a small Alabama town.

H8R - Pronounced "hater," this reality show is hosted by Mario Lopez and allows celebrities to go head-to-head with ordinary folks who hate them in an effort to change their minds.  By "celebrity," we're talking about the B-List (or lower) variety, such as Kim Kardashian and Snooki.

Ringer - The beloved Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to television alongside Kristoffer Polaha and Ioan Gruffudd in this drama about a woman who witnesses a murder and hides out in the identity of her twin sister whose life ends up being even more dangerous.

The Secret Circle - The CW has had great success with supernatural series and super-powered characters, so they're trying again with this story of an orphaned girl who moves to a small town where she learns that she's part of a new generation of witches.  The show stars Thomas Dekker, Natasha Henstridge, and others.

And here are two reality shows that will be mid-season replacements.

The Frame - I can only discribe this as Big Brother on a more claustraphobic scale.  Here's the description: "Ten teams of two, chosen for their dynamic personalities and their existing deep-rooted relationships, are selected to compete in this wild social experiment. These teams will each live in one Frame - a stripped down version of their home living space - for up to 8 weeks, with the entire world watching their inter-personal soap operas play out atop a highly formatted game. Couples cannot physically see one another, but each "frame" is rigged with plasma screens & communication devices that allow for visual and verbal interaction. The teams will face outrageous challenges, punishments, head-to-head competitions, and eliminations, all while isolated from the outside world. With 24/7 web cams streaming content live, and a bi-weekly television show, audiences will vote for - and have control over - many elements of the show, from rewards to punishments to eliminations. The last couple standing will be America's favorite pair, and walk away with a cash prize."

Re-Modeled - Cameras follow modeling industry veteran Paul Fisher as he brings together hundreds of small agencies around the world in a new venture called The Network.
