Real Violence Overshadows Fiction

After the senseless violence that took the lives of a dozen innocent moviegoers and injured over 50 other people at the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado, many politicians and pundits will be playing the blame game. Some will point fingers at the media and the alleged glorification of violence in entertainment, and some will claim that the real culprit is the easy access to deadly weapons by unstable individuals. Many will try to delve into the mind of the assailant and seek out motivations for his crime. It's all an attempt to understand and make sense of the incomprehensible.

I cannot add to any of those debates and discussions.  All these years after the Columbine tragedy, much still has not changed as mass shootings continue to grab headlines and lives are needlessly lost.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of all those impacted by this and to those we've lost.
