Reaction to the First Trailer for Spielberg's Lincoln Movie
The first full trailer for the highly anticipated movie Lincoln has been released and for the most part it looks amazing. The bio-pic of America's 16th President seems epic with beautiful cinematography by Janusz Kaminski, a musical score by the legendary John Williams, and direction by Steven Spielberg. The all-star cast seems to be ready-made Oscar bait, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Jackie Earle Haley, Sally Field, James Spader, David Strathairn, Hal Holbrook, and many others. It is the lead, Daniel Day-Lewis, however, who grabs my attention the most, seeming to fully embody Abraham Lincoln and bring him to life as no other actor has before.
From his physical appearance to the sound of his voice (which has a more historically accurate higher pitch and accented drawl than the typical baritone that many Hollywood actors tend to give him when playing the role), Daniel Day-Lewis seems to have done it again, transforming himself into the character he is depicting, just as he did with My Left Foot, The Last of the Mohicans, The Age of Innoncence, In the Name of the Father, The Crucible, Gangs of New York, and There Will Be Blood.
