Remembering Actor Larry Hagman

Actor Larry Hagman passed away at the age of 81.  Even though he had been battling illness for years, his death still comes as a surprise.  Like a true professional, he was working right up until the very end.

I first became a fan of his thanks to his spirited performance as Major Nelson in the comedy I Dream of Jeannie

He gained superstardom as J.R. Ewing in the hit series Dallas.  The cliffhanger "Who Shot J.R.?" was a milestone in television history.  He played the character in various episodes of the spin-off series Knots Landing and reprised the role again in later specials and recently in the Dallas remakeIts success, I believe, hinged on his participation and enthusiasm he brought to the show.

His career had other fine moments, including a fun cameo as a military man in Superman: The Movie as well as roles in Nixon, Primary Colors, and Desperate Housewives.

He has had a great career and a long life, but it still feels as if he's gone too soon. He will be missed.
