Happy Birthday, Stan Lee

Special thanks to The Fire Wire blog for reminding me that today is Stan Lee's 90th birthday!  Happy birthday, Stan the Man!

What a cool life he's led! As a writer, editor, and publisher, he was reponsible for creating some of the most well-known comicbook superheroes, working in tandem with artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to bring us the Fantastic Four, Spider-man, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, the X-Men, Daredevil, and others.  Let's face it, he was the backbone of the glory days of Marvel Comics and we wouldn't be in this current Golden Age of Superhero Cinema if it wasn't for his creative contributions.

He's continued to be a pop cultural icon, making many apearances at conventions, creating new characters for various projects (including the Just Imagine line for DC Comics and the Stripperella cartoon for Spike TV), appearing in numerous cameos in movies, and hosting the campy reality series on Syfy called Who Wants to Be a Superhero?  He also currently has a YouTube Channel titled Stan Lee's World of Heroes.

He really has lived up to his catchphrase exclamation "Excelsior!" May he have many more birthdays to come!
