Looking Forward to a Lucky New Year

Some of you might be suffering from triskaidekaphobia, a fear of the number 13.  It often materializes on Friday the 13th, but there are other examples of it, such as the fact that many buildings skip a thirteeneth floor.  As we enter the new year 2013, I actually feel pretty lucky.  The number 13 has been good to me.

According to that bastion of knowledge, Wikipedia, the number thirteen is considered lucky in Italy and Tibet.  Foreboding about the number has been around at least as long as the Babylonian empire.  There are various theories about where and why the phobia originated, and then coincidental occurances throughout history added to the lore, such as the Knights Templar being arrested on October 13, 1307.

Whether you are superstitious or not, I hope 2013 brings you great joy, health, and success!
