Spring Fever

I had a wonderful weekend with my family. The weather was glorious -- sunshine, comfortable temperatures, and glorious examples of springtime with flowering trees and colorful blossoms finally showing their splendor for a few consecutive days in a row after a lengthy winter and late start to the spring season. Even though there was still a bit of a nippy breeze in the air, it felt good to be outside.  Spring Fever has officially bitten me.

Depending on whom you ask, the term "Spring Fever" has different meanings.  It might imply a new level of sloth as people put chores aside to take a break and enjoy the magic of nature.  It might be the opposite -- a burst of new energy that makes us feel glad to be alive, as if we were awakening from a wintertime of hibernation.  Maybe it's a combination of both.

This is peak time at work for me, so I hope this great weather lasts for a while so I can enjoy it. Here in New York, it seems like we really only have two seasons -- winter and summer -- and the greatness of true spring and fall are given short shrift, coming and going before we all can really appreciate them.  Hopefully, a late start to spring will mean the great weather will linger into summer before the uncomfortable heat, humidity, and thunderstorms arrive.
