The Drowsy Chaperone at the Barrow-Civic Theatre

My dad and I drove from New York City to Franklin, Pennsylvania, to spend the weekend with my sister.  After a nice meal at McGinnis Irish Pub, we went to see the production of The Drowsy Chaperone. It's a musical that I knew nothing about except that a lot of companies seemed eager to perform it. After seeing it, I can understand why -- it's a funny, thoroughly entertaining love note to theater.

The Barrow-Civic Theatre is a wonderful space that any theater troupe would be proud of and lucky to call home.  The ensemble cast, led by Ben Bodamer as the narrating Man in Chair, brought contagious enthusiasm for the story and an incredible level of talent. They can sing, they can dance, they can deliver their lines with perfect comic timing.

Upcoming shows this season include Steel Magnolias, Oklahoma!, and [Title of Show], so get your tickets if you happen to find yourself in the area.
