35th Anniversary Season at 2econd Stage Theatre

New York City is blessed with a bounty of theater companies, and Second Stage Theater is one of the crown jewels. Founded in 1979 to provide second chances for contemporary American plays that struggled during their original runs, 2ST is now "an Off-Broadway institution dedicated to developing plays, artists and audiences."

Here's a look at what's in store for its 35th anniversary season.

The Happiest Song Plays Last (February 2014)
Written by the Pulitzer Prize winning Quiara Alegria Hudes, this tale spotlights a year in the life of two cousins, Elliot and Yaz, through the sounds of traditional Puerto Rican folk music.

Little Miss Sunshine (October 2013)
From James Lapine and William Finn, the creators of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and based on the critically acclaimed movie, a young girl convinces her family to make an 800-mile trek to a pre-teen pageant.

Nobody Loves You (Summer 2013)
This musical comedy follows a philosophy grad student on a reality TV dating show as he tries to win back his ex-girlfriend.

Sex with Strangers (June 2014)
David Schwimmer directs this story of the rocky relationship between Ethan, a star sex blogger/memoirist, and Olivia, an obscure novelist.
