5 Characters Who Deserve Their Own TV Series

You may or may not have heard that a television series is in development based on the character of John Rambo, popularized by the First Blood movies. Sylvester Stallone is allegedly involved in a creative capacity and might even act in it, although someone else will likely be cast to play the role of the avenging war veteran. This started me thinking about other fictional characters from various media properties who might be good subjects for their own weekly TV shows.

1. Snake Plissken - Kurt Russell's eye-patch-wearing tough guy was excellent in John Carpenter's cult classic Escape from New York.  The potential for further post-apocalytic adventures is sky high.  (Let's forget about the awful sequel Escape from L.A., which had the completely wrong tone.)
2. Nightwing - We've seen superheroes on TV before -- Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk -- but Dick Grayson, the original Robin the Boy Wonder, who gave up being a sidekick and became a lone costumed crimefighter of his own, would be interesting to watch on a weekly basis. He has no superpowers, only his acrobatic skill, and he has a better sense of humor than his brooding Dark Knight mentor.
3. Hugo "Hurley" Reyes -- The beloved character from the popular Lost TV show deserves his own spin-off to showcase his further adventures that were hinted at in the series finale. Of course, only Jorge Garcia can play the part.

4. Jules Winnfield -- Ever since I saw Pulp Fiction, I began to wonder whatever became of this incredible hitman who sought redemption. It would be must-watch television to see him "walk the Earth like Kane from Kung Fu." The question is, could any other actor besides Samuel L. Jackson do the character justice?

5. Hermione Granger -- We may never read any new adventures of Harry Potter or see any new movies (but never say never), yet how about a TV series (British of course), following the continuing adventures of one of Harry's closest friends?

What do you think?
