Leaked Script Causes Tarantino to Change His Plans

You can't trust anybody these days. Quentin Tarantino learned that the hard way. His draft screenplay for his next project, Hateful Eight, which he had allegedly shared with only six people who were close to him, leaked online. Depressed over this "betrayal," as he called it, the lauded director has decided to scrap the script from his production schedule. It would have been his next feature film, a western to follow in the footsteps of his successful Django Unchained. Instead, he will now likely still publish it, but it may never be made into a movie.

I can understand his frustration. Our culture of spoilers ruins the experience of seeing a film unfold its plot for the first time to an audience in a movie theater. Instead, all surprises are revealed piecemeal through leaks.

Now Tarantino will tackle another project. As the prolific writer says, "I'll move on to the next thing. I've got ten more where that came from." Hopefully, they won't be leaked before their time.
