Ideas for Standalone Star Wars Movies

While J.J. Abrams brings us the chronological continuation of the Star Wars saga (The Force Awakens), Disney is planning a series of standalone movies set in the Star Wars universe, the first of which will be directed by Gareth Edwards. The official subject matter remains a mystery, but rumors are abuzz that it might center on the adventures of a young Han Solo (maybe going up against Boba Fett?)  It would be cool to see exactly why Chewbacca owes a life debt to him, or how he managed to do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, or how the Millennium Falcon switched hands from Lando Calrissian. Han Solo's backstory is rich with possibilities.

The bounty hunters alone are another opportunity for some wild storytelling.  Imagine an Ocean's Eleven type movie with Bossk, IG-88, Boba Fett, and others.

How about a prequel story set in the Old Republic, showing Yoda, Mace Windu, and Qui-Gon Jinn wiping out what they thought to be the last traces of the Sith?

Maybe we can see the live-action return of Darth Maul, somehow surviving his Phantom Menace duel and becoming a half-cyborg version of his old self, going on a journey of redemption.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of Darth Vader, hunting down the last remaining Jedi Knights before Yoda and Ben Kenobi go into hiding as the remaining survivors.

What ideas would you like to see?

The Oceans Eleven with bounty hunters is a fantastic idea. Somebody find me a magic lamp and I'll make it happen.

I'm really excited about the new Star Wars movies, but I'm afraid to get my hopes up.
