Recommending Orphan Black

Whenever a friend of mine asks me to recommend a new show for them to watch, the first answer that comes to mind is Orphan Black.

Airing on BBC America and available for streaming on Amazon Prime (and also on DVD and Blu-Ray), the show centers on a young woman who discovers multiple clones of herself and tries to stay alive amid assassination attempts and convoluted conspiracies.  While the plot might be far-fetched, the twists and turns are certainly enjoyable, made all the more watchable thanks to the amazing performance by the lead actress Tatiana Maslany, who convincingly plays all the various female clones.

The rest of the cast is terrific too, including Jordan Gavaris as Felix the foster brother, Kevin Hanchard as Art the detective, Michael Mando as Vic "the Dick," and all the rest.

It's Tatiana's show of course, playing the hustling Sarah as a street-smart but wounded soul, and then all the rest of the clones she discovers with their distinct personalities, voices, appearances, and histrionics. It's as if multiple actresses were delivering the roles instead of just one.  No wonder Tatiana has been praised for her work.

Tune in to Orphan Black and you'll be hooked, recommending the series to all your friends too.
